Job Title: Cardiovascular Critical Care APP

Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Intensivist Advanced Practitioner Provider (APP) is a certified licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who independently and collaboratively works with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to acutely ill and/or medically complex patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
Job Duties:
Demonstrate knowledge of etiologies risk factors pathophysiology and presentation of cardiac medical conditions: including but not limited to common cardiothoracic pathology and surgical interventions (CAB valves aortic aneurysm/dissection) vascular disease and associated surgical interventions STEMI/NSTEMI cardiogenic shock coronary artery disease heart failure advanced airway and lung disease burns.
Demonstrate and use critical thinking skills to synthesize and analyze patient data.
Perform a comprehensive or problemfocused history and physical assessment for critically ill adult patients that is accurate and complete.
Order collect and correctly interpret and evaluate laboratory and/or other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
Prescribe and manage pharmacologic agents and/or other treatment modalities with attention to efficacy and safety.
Demonstrate proficiency in procedural skills: intubation arterial lines central lines pulmonary artery catheters bronchoscopy chest tube insertion first assist ECMO cannulation and basic POC critical care ultrasound examination.
Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomebased treatment plans using the patient assessment evidencebased medicine standards of care professional practice guidelines and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team when appropriate.
Evaluate patient responsiveness to treatment therapies and adjust the treatment plan as indicated.
Initiate timely consultation and referral including with the collaborating physician based on the needs of the patient.
Facilitate and maintain ongoing communication with the patient family and/or health care team members.
Counsel and educate patients and families regarding medical processes and treatment.
Maintain accurate complete and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Strong working knowledge of critical care and CV medicine e.g. mechanical circulatory support (Impella IABP VA and VV ECMO along with hybrid configurations) inotropes heart failure treatment and advanced therapies (GDMT LVAD transplant) anticoagulation advanced hemodynamic interpretation basic Echo interpretation.
Qualifications:
Must be a boardcertified and licensed AdultGerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant/Associate.
Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) or secure one prior to the commencement of employment and comply with current Medicare billing requirements.
Current DEA Registration is required for schedules 2 2N 3 3N 4 and 5 along with appropriate stateissued prescribing authority.
Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory; the candidate must also obtain Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) certification within one year of employment.
Preferred: A minimum of one year of experience in a cardiovascular critical care setting as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant or equivalent CVICU experience as a registered nurse.
