Job Description
AS400 Developer
Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Design code and test AS400 applications and programs
- Collaborate with business analysts and users to understand requirements
- Perform debugging and problemsolving for AS400 applications
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Conduct performance tuning and optimization of AS400 applications
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Work on enhancements and new development initiatives
- Provide production support and troubleshoot issues
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams for system integrations
- Ensure compliance with coding standards and best practices
- Conduct unit testing and participate in system testing
- Assist in the migration of applications to newer platforms
- Stay updated with AS400 technology advancements
- Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams for system upgrades and maintenance
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in AS400 development and programming
- Proficiency in RPG IV RPG Free CL and SQL programming languages
- Experience with IBM iSeries and AS400 environments
- Strong understanding of AS400 database concepts and file structures
- Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices
- Ability to perform system analysis design and testing
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills
- Good understanding of AS400 security and system administration
- Experience in performance tuning and optimization of AS400 applications
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with system integration and data migration concepts
- Certifications in AS400 or IBM i development is a plus
- Knowledge of modernization techniques for AS400 applications is advantageous
