  • Patrolling Premises: Regularly patrol assigned areas to ensure they are secure, checking for hazards, security risks, or unauthorized access. Patrol both interior and exterior areas, including parking lots, hallways, and other critical zones.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control access points to the premises, ensuring that only authorized personnel, visitors, or vehicles enter. Use security checkpoints, badge scanners, or biometric systems as needed.
  • Alarm Monitoring: Respond to security alarms and investigate the cause of the alarm. This may include checking for break-ins, fire hazards, or other emergencies.

2. Incident Prevention and Response:

  • Preventing Incidents: Proactively look for potential security threats, such as signs of theft, vandalism, or trespassing, and take steps to prevent them. This can include directing suspicious individuals to leave the premises or reporting potential threats to management.
  • Responding to Emergencies: Act quickly in response to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, or security breaches. Provide first aid if necessary and coordinate with emergency services (police, fire department, or medical teams) as required.
  • Crowd Control: In crowded environments, such as events or public spaces, assist in managing large groups of people to ensure order and prevent disorderly conduct. Help maintain a safe flow of traffic and ensure that fire exits are clear and accessible.
  • De-escalating Conflicts: Use conflict resolution skills to defuse confrontational situations and avoid escalation. Handle disturbances calmly, preventing physical altercations or violence.

3. Incident Reporting and Documentation:

  • Documentation of Incidents: Maintain detailed and accurate records of any incidents, security breaches, or unusual activities. Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and other relevant documentation as required by company protocols.
  • Report Writing: Prepare incident reports that provide detailed accounts of events, including time, location, people involved, and actions taken. Reports are often used for investigations, insurance claims, or legal proceedings.
  • Monitor Logbooks: Maintain logbooks of shift activities, equipment status, visitor logs, and other important security-related data. Ensure that records are accurate, up-to-date, and filed according to the company’s guidelines.

4. Communication and Coordination:

  • Coordination with Law Enforcement: In the case of a serious security incident or criminal activity, work closely with law enforcement and provide them with relevant information or footage to assist with investigations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in coordination with other security personnel, supervisors, and staff to ensure a cohesive security plan is implemented. Share relevant information about threats or incidents with team members.

Desired candidate profile

  • Security Certifications: Many positions require certifications in security or safety training (e.g., First Aid, CPR, Fire Safety, or specific security guard certifications based on local regulations).
  • Conflict Management: Training in conflict de-escalation techniques and handling confrontational situations peacefully and professionally.

2. Communication Skills:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to work with a wide range of people, including staff, visitors, and the public, while maintaining authority and professionalism.
