BHive is Brampton s premier startup incubator helping international entrepreneurs establish or accelerate their business expansion into Canada and the North American market. BHive offering for international startups and MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) entrepreneurs includes tools resources and space to establish and quickly scale. BHive is supported by the City of Brampton and administered by the Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC).
The City of Brampton will be launching a new initiative to recruit international entrepreneurs from around the world and support their journey in launching a business in the City of Brampton. In collaboration with external partners key stakeholders and a team of qualified personnel BHive will be looking to recruit entrepreneurs from around the world to immigrate to Ontario and support job creation initiatives. In addition BHive will be undertaking efforts to increase programming capacity and settlement support for entrepreneurs and their families.
About the Role
The Project Manager Entrepreneurship Skills and Talent Development Program is seeking a highlyskilled and agile candidate to oversee the delivery of this new program manage its KPIs track progress against key deadlines and suggest corrective remedies to Project Director and Senior Management. The successful candidate will be a leader that will be able to support the people and motivate them along the way.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
Plan track coordinate and supervise the development and implementation of the Program such as:
Research Program and contract requirements analyze data and provide reports with recommendations to Senior Management for improved Program delivery.
Resource the Program to ensure sufficient personnel subcontractors and resources are available to support implementation and meet program objectives milestones ontime and onbudget.
Implement a process to ensure the team consistently delivers highquality products and Client services.
Team Management
Supervise and hold accountable multifunctional teams to deliver support for eligible Participants in the program. Supports such as:
Working closely with an international business development to monitor a multinational strategy to ensure effective international lead generation partnerships and client acquisition.
Working with the programming to develop track and implement strategies to deliver programming and settlement services to newcomers entrepreneurs that establish their business and reside in Brampton and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Ensure program records and CRM are accurately maintained and kept up to date by the implementation team.
Reporting & Monitoring
Setup a streamlined process using Project Management tools to streamline reporting and tracking of project outcomes.
Establish and maintain processes to monitor goals and outcomes of the program respond to ad hoc requests set program quality and performance standards conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential challenges with implementation.
Support the Finance Team with tracking and monitoring of the program budget.
Support Senior Management to maintain an effective relationship with the key government stakeholders and maintain clear consistent communications.
Qualification and Skills
Preference will be given to Canadian experience in the NonProfit/Economic development vertical handling Government/Ministry relations.
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Economics or a related field; MBA preferred
Proven experience (5 years) in project management preferably in economic development or business creation initiatives
Strong understanding of business development processes entrepreneurship and local economic factors
Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse groups
Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g. Microsoft Project Zoho)
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders
Analytical mindset with strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities
Familiarity with financial modeling and budget management
Adaptability and resilience in the face of changing project demands and economic conditions
Extensive experience in successfully managing government contracts with a deep understanding of the unique regulatory requirements compliance standards and reporting procedures involved in such contracts.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
Deep knowledge of the innovation ecosystem in Canada specifically with connections within the Brampton landscape is an asset.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for economic development and the ability to transform ideas into actionable plans. They should be comfortable working in a fastpaced environment and have a track record of successfully delivering complex projects that create lasting impact in communities.
Experience in Reporting to the Senior Executive Team.
