Company Overview
Our client established in 2018 specializes in the design supply installation and maintenance of solar power solutions. They have since expanded their product and service offerings to include street and lawn lighting power backup solutions and the sale of solar equipment. As part of their ongoing growth they are seeking an experienced Project Accountant Manager to join their dynamic team.
Job Summary
The Project Accountant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial management of various projects ensuring accurate accounting financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in projectbased accounting leadership capabilities and experience in managing audits. This role requires a detailoriented professional with excellent analytical skills and a deep understanding of project financials.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
o Oversee the financial aspects of multiple projects including budgeting forecasting and cost control.
o Monitor project expenditures ensuring they are within budget and aligned with financial goals.
o Prepare and review project financial reports providing accurate and timely updates to management.
Project Accounting:
o Maintain accurate financial records for all projects including tracking revenues costs and billing.
o Handle project invoicing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
o Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies in all projectrelated transactions.
Audit Management:
o Lead and manage internal and external audits ensuring timely completion and addressing any audit findings.
o Prepare necessary documentation and financial statements for audit purposes.
o Implement audit recommendations and ensure continuous improvement in financial processes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
o Collaborate with project managers to develop and review project budgets.
o Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance against budget forecasts.
o Identify and implement costsaving initiatives to improve project profitability.
Leadership and Team Management:
o Supervise mentor and develop a team of accountants ensuring high performance and adherence to deadlines.
o Provide guidance on financial processes and best practices in project accounting.
o Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Compliance and Risk Management:
o Ensure compliance with statutory regulations tax requirements and company policies.
o Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects.
o Maintain accurate and uptodate financial records for audits and reporting purposes.
Requirements
Key Qualifications
Education:
o Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
o Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) qualification is mandatory.
Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in a projectbased accounting role preferably in the renewable energy or construction industry.
o Proven experience in managing financial audits and leading audit processes.
o Demonstrated experience in budgeting forecasting and financial analysis for projects.
Skills:
o Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
o Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities with attention to detail.
o Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
Experience in the renewable energy industry is an added advantage.
Familiarity with project management software or ERP systems is preferred.
Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements in Kenya.
