Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform structural fitter assignments as assigned
- Work safe and maintain a safe working environment
- Notify foreman or supervisor of any safety and/or structural issues as warranted
- Lay out position align and fit together fabricated structural steel plate according to customer specifications and direction from Foreman/Supervisor
- Move parts into position manually by hoist or crane and align parts using jacks etc.
- May be required to remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files portable grinders and/or cutting torch as well as give directions to the welder to build up low spots or short pieces.
- May at times be required to tack weld as necessary.
- Consults with foreman or supervisor regarding installation or repair problems sequence of operations and time required to complete repair and/or installation.
- Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using squares rulers and measuring tapes.
- Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
- Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines allowing for stock thickness machine and welding shrinkage and other component specifications.
Required experience and Education
- 2 to 3 prior years of experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random unannounced drug and/or alcohol tests during employment.
- Must be able to communicate and take directions from Foreman & Supervisor.
- Must have good judgment skills and a highlevel work initiative;
- Must be able to work independently without direct supervision;
- Must be able to meet strict attendance requirements
