Client is looking for a consultant to drive the project with minimal supervision/support. They want someone to lead and create lists for the team to follow up on and challenge them as they assess their current situation.
needs an SAP FICO consultant to come in and audit their current financial foreign transaction process through SAP. This person would establish what is going well within their current configurations where they can improve and create best practices. They have been on a legacy SAP system for 10 years and now are selling their products to additional countries/with different currencies. This consultant will review the foreign transactions and make sure they are calculated/translated into USD correctly.
This Consultant will:
- Drive the conversation between the Finance teams and IT teams
- Ask good questions and perform the audit and create process improvements
- Also help with creating test cases to make sure the audit went through properly
Needed Tech:
Core skills: Deep understanding of SAP FICO module and FX/Accounting practices
Experience with Foreign transactions
Quick interview process: 12 interviews
Ok with parttime.
Fully remote OK but local candidate is preferred as they might need to fly this person in for a day or two of in person collaboration.
Speed is important as they want this audit completed by year end.
Description;
SAP FICO Consultant
We are seeking an experienced SAP FICO Consultant with a strong background in accounting standards and foreign currency valuation to assess and enhance our SAP environment. The ideal candidate will evaluate our current FX configuration identify potential issues and support our finance team in implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with US GAAP standards.
This is a remote position candidates local to Portland OR are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuration Review:
- Evaluate existing SAP configuration settings impacting foreign currency transactions revaluation and translation processes.
- Review chart of accounts settings for GL accounts and transaction sets related to valuation and translation.
- Analysis and Documentation:
- Compile a preliminary list of GL accounts and transaction types to develop test scripts.
- Interview finance team members to understand parameters used for FAGLFCVAL and FAGLFCTRANS.
- Analyze activity in foreign currency unrealized and realized gain/loss accounts.

- Reporting and Recommendations:
- Document and report any errors gaps or concerns discovered during the evaluation.
- Recommend configuration and process changes to optimize FX valuation and translation practices.
- Outline periodic compliance checks to ensure adherence to established processes.
- Collaboration:
- Present findings and recommendations to the internal finance team and agree on a path forward.
- Validate that any configuration or process changes are implemented as agreed.
- Functional Audit:
- Define and execute a minimal set of test scenarios to validate the valuation and translation processes.
- Collaborate with finance and product owners to execute test scripts and validate results.
- Final Reporting:
- Prepare a comprehensive report detailing findings documentation and recommended next steps.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in SAP FICO with a focus on foreign currency valuation and translation.

- Strong knowledge of SAP ECC 6.0 with experience in EHP updates.
- Proficient in SAP modules relevant to foreign currency transactions.
- Familiarity with US GAAP standards and best practices in financial reporting.
