Roles and responsibilities
1. Team Management and Supervision
- Staff Oversight: Supervise and lead a team of workers involved in furniture production, assembly, sales, or inventory management. This includes ensuring that staff follow work procedures, meet quality standards, and adhere to safety protocols.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to new and existing employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their tasks efficiently and safely. This may include training on furniture assembly, machine operation, and safety standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Evaluate team performance, conduct performance reviews, and provide feedback to improve productivity, efficiency, and morale. Manage employee schedules and task assignments to optimize workflow.
2. Production Oversight (Manufacturing/Assembly)
- Furniture Production: Oversee the production and assembly of furniture items, ensuring that each piece meets design specifications and quality standards. This includes supervising carpenters, upholsterers, and other production staff.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of the products during the production process to ensure they meet quality standards and client specifications. Address and resolve any quality issues as they arise.
- Material Management: Ensure that materials required for production (wood, fabric, foam, etc.) are available and managed efficiently. This may involve working with suppliers to order materials and ensuring they are stored and handled correctly.
- Equipment Management: Supervise the proper use and maintenance of tools and machinery used in the production or assembly of furniture. Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and that any malfunctioning tools are repaired or replaced quickly.
3. Inventory Management
- Stock Management: Oversee the storage and inventory of raw materials (wood, fabric, upholstery, hardware) and finished goods. Ensure that the inventory is organized and well-maintained to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Order Fulfillment: Ensure that furniture items are delivered to clients, customers, or retail outlets on time, in good condition, and in accordance with specifications. Coordinate with other departments (sales, logistics) to ensure timely shipments.
- Inventory Audits: Conduct regular stock audits to track inventory levels, monitor for discrepancies, and ensure that any losses are identified and addressed.
