Roles and responsibilities
1. Supervision of Security Personnel
- Staff Management: Supervise and manage a team of security officers or guards, ensuring they perform their duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Scheduling and Shift Management: Create and manage the security team’s schedule, ensuring adequate coverage at all times, especially during high-risk hours or events.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training for security staff on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, surveillance techniques, and customer service. Ensure all security personnel are properly certified and knowledgeable.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor security staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and address any performance issues or misconduct.
- Motivation and Support: Foster a positive work environment, boosting team morale, and encouraging high standards of professionalism and vigilance.
2. Security Operations and Incident Management
- Incident Response: Oversee and manage the response to security incidents such as theft, vandalism, disturbances, medical emergencies, or fire alarms. Ensure prompt action is taken and the appropriate authorities are notified when necessary.
- Emergency Procedures: Ensure that all security personnel are well-versed in emergency protocols, including evacuation plans, first-aid procedures, fire safety, and lockdown procedures. Lead or assist in emergency situations as needed.
- Incident Reporting: Document and report all security incidents in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain detailed logs of incidents, security breaches, or any suspicious activities.
- Investigations: Investigate any security breaches, thefts, or suspicious activity. Work with law enforcement or internal investigators if necessary and follow up to ensure resolutions are reached.
3. Security System Oversight
- Surveillance Monitoring: Ensure that surveillance cameras and other security systems are functioning properly and are being monitored continuously. Troubleshoot and address any technical issues with the security equipment.
- Access Control: Oversee the access control systems, ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed access to restricted areas. Maintain security protocols for building entry and visitor management.
- System Checks: Perform regular checks and maintenance on alarm systems, CCTV cameras, access control systems, and other security technology to ensure they are operational at all times.
