Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Operational Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of food and beverage departments, ensuring that all services run smoothly, from kitchen operations to guest dining experiences.
    • Supervise, train, and manage F&B managers, supervisors, and staff to ensure high standards of service delivery and operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Food & Beverage to set operational goals, strategies, and standards for all F&B outlets (e.g., restaurants, bars, catering, in-room dining, etc.).
  • Financial Performance and Budgeting:

    • Assist in developing and managing the department’s budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets for revenue and cost control.
    • Monitor and analyze financial performance (revenue, expenses, profit margins) and implement corrective actions when necessary to improve profitability.
    • Review monthly financial reports, sales forecasts, and P&L statements, making recommendations for cost-effective practices and revenue enhancement opportunities.
    • Optimize inventory management and procurement processes to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure product availability.
  • Menu Development and Quality Control:

    • Work closely with the Executive Chef and Beverage Manager to develop and implement innovative menus, considering current trends, guest preferences, and seasonal availability.
    • Ensure that menu offerings meet quality standards and align with the brand’s concept and guest expectations.
    • Conduct regular quality checks on food, beverage, and service delivery to ensure consistency and excellence in every guest interaction.
    • Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure it meets the high standards set by the organization.
  • Staff Training, Development, and Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of food and beverage managers, supervisors, and staff, providing guidance on service standards, performance expectations, and professional development.
    • Create and implement ongoing training programs to develop skills in customer service, product knowledge, food safety, and operational efficiency.
    • Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, employee engagement, and job satisfaction.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement in service quality and staff performance.
  • Guest Experience and Customer Service:

    • Ensure that all guests have an exceptional dining experience, from greeting and seating to food delivery and overall service.
    • Handle guest complaints or issues in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that guests leave with a positive impression.

Desired candidate profile

    • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate large teams, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and develop staff.
    • Operational Excellence: Strong organizational and operational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple aspects of food and beverage operations simultaneously.
    • Customer Service Focus: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and staff effectively, ensuring top-notch service delivery.
    • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of profit and loss statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to manage costs and maximize revenue.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate operational or service challenges and take swift action to resolve issues, ensuring minimal disruption.
    • Creativity and Innovation: Ability to think creatively in menu development, marketing, and creating unique dining experiences.
    • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of operations, from food quality to guest service and financial management.
  • Technology Skills:

    • Proficiency with restaurant or hospitality management software (e.g., POS systems, inventory management tools, reservation systems).
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and financial analysis.
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools to promote food and beverage offerings.
