Laundry Technician

Roles and responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on laundry equipment (washing machines, dryers, presses, etc.) to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning laundry machines and equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed on laundry equipment.
  • Monitor performance of equipment to identify potential issues before they lead to major breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to laundry operations.

• Installation and Setup:

  • Install new laundry equipment, ensuring all machines are set up according to manufacturer guidelines and operational standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors or suppliers for the procurement and installation of new or replacement equipment when needed.
  • Ensure that new equipment is integrated smoothly into the existing laundry system without causing interruptions to the service.

• Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all laundry equipment operates in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols when handling equipment, chemicals, and maintenance tools.
  • Perform regular safety checks to prevent accidents, particularly with steam or high-temperature machinery.
  • Stay up-to-date with local regulations regarding equipment safety, environmental standards, and operational guidelines.

• Preventive Maintenance:

  • Implement and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for all laundry equipment to extend their lifespan and reduce the risk of unexpected failures.
  • Replace worn-out or damaged parts, such as belts, hoses, and seals, to maintain the equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Clean and lubricate parts as necessary to prevent wear and tear and improve the efficiency of the equipment.

• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

  • Respond to emergencies or requests for immediate repairs, diagnosing the cause of malfunctioning equipment and implementing solutions swiftly.
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, or operational problems with laundry machinery.
  • Collaborate with the laundry department to ensure that equipment is returned to service as quickly as possible.

• Inventory Management:

  • Maintain a stock of essential parts and tools for routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts (motors, belts, pumps, etc.) and place orders as needed to avoid equipment downtime.
  • Ensure that the tools and machinery are properly stored and organized for easy access during maintenance.

Desired candidate profile

Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language is highly desirable
High School Diploma preferred, but not mandated, general engineering aptitude

required.

High degree of initiative, motivation and endurance.
Knowledge of:
A variety of test instruments and tools necessary for the repair and

maintenance of heating, ventilation and sheet metal.

Basic principles of electricity.
Operational hazards and standard safety practices.
Basic sheet metal work and fabrication of duct work.
Record keeping and report writing.
Computerized electrical circuits and systems as they relate to laundry

equipments.

Ability to:
Diagnose problems and make recommendations.
Make estimates of materials required.
Repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.
Work independently without direct supervision.
