1.1 BACKGROUND The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Training Center (TRACEN) Yorktown Chapel located at 1 U. S. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown VAseeks a Ceremonial Band Director to lead a volunteer band of ActiveDuty Military Training Center students and civilian volunteers. The Training Center band performs at base functions including change of commands annual ceremonies and other special events for local performances off base.
This SOW is to secure the services of a Ceremonial Band Director to lead the TRACEN Yorktown Ceremonial volunteer band. The Band Director will be responsible for organizing training and leading band members in rehearsals and performances ensuring the delivery of highquality musical support for official base ceremonies and events.
1.2 SCOPE The Ceremonial Band Director shall: Conduct and lead a volunteer band composed of ActiveDuty military personnel Training Center students and civilian volunteers. Coordinate with the Training Center to schedule prepare and conduct performances at official base functions including Change of Command ceremonies annual observances and other special events. Ensure that musical selections are appropriate for the ceremonies and reflect the decorum expected at military events.
2.0 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS/TASKS
The Contractor shall lead the Training Centers volunteer Ceremonial Band during all necessary ceremonies including (Change of Commands all hands evolutions Cuyahoga Memorial Ceremony Retirements band practice York Countys July 4th celebration and other evolutions as necessary) in playing ceremonial marches anthems symphonic pieces and hymns as directed.
2.1 TASK ONE. REHEARSALS AND TRAINING
Schedule and conduct regular rehearsals to prepare the band for performances ensuring rehearsals accommodate the schedules of Active Duty student and civilian volunteers. Provide instruction in musical techniques ensemble performance and ceremonial music appropriate for military ceremonies. Prepare new band members by providing guidance on instrumental techniques music selection and band policies.
Expected Work Hours The Ceremonial Band Director is expected to work approximately 228 hours over the 12month contract period. This total includes time allocated for rehearsals performance preparation execution at official TRACEN events and special event performances.
2.1.1 Coordinate with TRACEN event planners to plan and execute musical performances that align with the ceremonial needs of the Training Center. Prepare a repertoire of music suitable for military ceremonies including but not limited to national anthems patriotic songs and traditional ceremonial marches as well as a spring and/or winter concert on base to include a selection of symphonic pieces. Oversee the setup and teardown of musical equipment as needed for performances.
2.1.2 Arrive no later than 30 minutes before scheduled performance to direct the band in setup and musical warmup.
2.1.3 Set up and cleanup of music area to include instruments music stands etc. upon completion of rehearsals and performances.
2.2 TASK TWO. BUILD AND PREPARE BAND FOR PERFORMANCES:
The Band Director shall lead all rehearsals for the TRACEN Yorktown (TCY) Ceremonial Band to ensure the band is wellprepared for official performances.

2.3 TASK THREE. ENSURE THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THE BAND
The Band Director shall collaborate with the permanent party Band Liaison to ensure the longterm sustainability and readiness of the TRACEN Yorktown (TCY) Ceremonial Band.
2.3.1 Band Member Recruitment
2.3.2 Coordinate with the permanent party Band Liaison to recruit Active Duty personnel as band members.
2.3.4 Equipment Maintenance and Upkeep
2.3.5 Conduct or provide guidance on routine onthespot maintenance for any USCGowned equipment listed in Attachment 1.
2.3.6 Instruct Active Duty and student volunteers on the annual cleaning and inventory of all USCGowned equipment to be conducted during the first rehearsal of TRACEN Yorktowns December holiday standdown period.
2.4 Supply and Repair Coordination
2.4.1 Coordinate with the permanent party Band Liaison to order any consumables required for maintaining USCGowned equipment. The permanent party will handle the generation of Purchase Requests and complete the procurement.
2.4.2 Work with the permanent party Band Liaison for any major equipment maintenance or repair needs that require transportation of USCGowned equipment offbase. The permanent party will handle the generation of Purchase Requests and manage the transportation to and from the maintenance or repair facility.
