Role Description:
This is the role for someone who might not be an expert at every aspect of building great things but is willing to get their hands dirty to deliver alongside an experienced fintech CEO brilliant fintech products. This is the first technical hire and so not only is our fullstack engineer going to need to be able to deliver quality products but also clearly communicate ideas and technical issues and specifications with nontechnical (albeit experienced FinTech CEO) founder. The business and group is well established and growing quickly and the next phase of growth is to build brilliant products that allow for the next phase of scaling growth. The group has a great track record of developing young ambitious people into senior leaders and the successful applicant to this role will potentially have designs on a CTO role in the future
The Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for developing the products that allow our global group to scale. It is the first fully technical hire in established businesses that have great ambitions.The objective is to build the MVPs that prove that the portfolio companies can scale. This role is better suited for someone who wants to do things at 90% of perfection at extreme speed than a perfectionist who takes their time. We want to build quickly test quickly and iterate on customer feedback quickly rather than build to perfection.
This is a fulltime hybrid role located in Cape Town with flexibility for some remote work.
The Full Stack Engineer will work alongside the CEO and Head of Operations to scope spec and build MVP of 2 or 3 live projects.
Daytoday activities include creating and maintaining the infrastructure for building great products making technical recommendations to senior leadership designing speccing building and developing both frontend and backend solutions troubleshooting issues and collaborating with the team to improve the platforms.
What you will do:
Become the first technical hire in our global team and work closely with the founders to enhance our existing products and introduce exciting new ones.
Develop reusable frontend components and libraries.
Collaborate closely with the sales process.
Convert designs into highquality functional code.
Deliver quality components using React and hosted on AWS
Implement AI solutions that integrate with existing business systems to enhance functionality and user interaction.
Skills and Experience:
Proven frontend developer skills with a strong focus on UX/UI design.
Solid proficiency in JavaScript/Typescript HTML and CSS.
Familiarity with React.js.
Experience with tools like Figma or other design platforms.
Expertise in responsive design.
A good understanding of modern frontend tooling and APIs.
Staying updated with the latest UI trends and technologies.
Its a bonus if you have (but not essential):
Python knowledge.
Experience with AWS.
Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL.
Working knowledge and curiosity of building AI integrated products
Experience required:
Fullstack developer: 3 years (mandatory).
