JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Service Engineer Technical Writer
This position is responsible for developing technical documentation to include service operator’s owner’s
parts and other technical manuals needed for the installation analysis commissioning operation and service
of all Twin Disc products globally.
This key role works directly with Product Service and crossfunctionally with our Corporate Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Departments globally. This position is also responsible for the
development and updating of technical training materials for both in person training online training and will
communicate directly with ThirdParty technical writing vendors for overall management of projects.

Education and/or Experience:
• BSME or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 13 years of experience.
• Associate degree required. Preferred in Creative Writing Technical Writing Communications or
related field; or minimum of one year of equivalent workrelated experience of proven technical writing
in creative styles for multiple audiences.
Computer Skills:
• Competence in Microsoft 365
• Proficiency with InDesign CC Photoshop CC Illustrator CC and 3Dvia is a significant plus.
• Graphic design and photography experience is a significant plus
• Video editing experience is a significant plusCommunication Skills:
• Strong interpersonal relationship skills that allow being able to work with people in all levels of the
organization and with a wide variety of external customers and vendors.
• Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Good listening skills to determine the needs of projects.
Technical Requirements:
• Strong mechanical knowledge and experience is needed with an understanding of factory assembly
procedures preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of PTO’s Marine Transmission Offroad transmission and electronic controls is a
significant plus.
Work Environment:
• Chennai India
• Some travel may be required.
Other Requirements:
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and
competing time constraints.
1. Research and document technical materials for training inhouse personnel as well as external
customers.
2. Create userfriendly owner's manuals and customer instructions to help consumers understand the set
up use and care of our products.
3. Create technical service manuals and other communications to help service technicians diagnose and
repair our products.
4. Manage updates and revisions to technical materials including owner's manuals technical manuals
written scripts for videos and other forms of media.
5. Create the content for product manuals and technical service documents in collaboration with legal
compliance engineering quality and service teams.
6. Meet with other Twin Disc professional personnel such as Product Service Design Test and
Manufacturing Engineers to review scope of product projects to produce or update technical manuals to
meet the project goals.
7. Develop training material in coordination with Product Service Engineers for training to be given at Twin
Disc as well as remotely at Authorized Distributors or Direct OEM’s.
8. Be knowledgeable on all products product changes and new products with regards to design
applications operation and installation as it is related to developing and updating manuals and training.
