Job Description
junior fashion designers responsibilities include:
Designing: Creating designs for specific pieces or parts of a collection
Collaborating: Working with other designers to contribute to the creative process
Gaining experience: Seeing designs through from initial sketches to production
Using design software: Creating drafts and prototypes using design software and techniques
Pitching ideas: Pitching creative ideas and incorporating feedback to improve designs
Other responsibilities of a fashion designer include:
Creating mood boards
Planning and developing fashion ranges
Sourcing selecting and buying fabrics and materials
Creating or supervising the creation of sample items
Presenting designs to clients retailers or senior designers
Fashion designers should be team players who understand fashion and are positive energetic and optimistic. They should also be creative but sellable.
meeting with clients virtually or during sales visits. demonstrating and presenting products. establishing new business. maintaining accurate records. attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings. reviewing sales performance. negotiating contracts and packages.
