Job Summary:Our client in the finance industry is seeking to hire a Corporate and Compliance Lawyer. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing corporate legal matters and ensuring the company s compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance mergers and acquisitions joint ventures and other corporate transactions.
- Draft review and negotiate a wide range of contracts agreements and legal documents related to corporate operations.
- Develop implement and manage the company s compliance programs to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory environments assess their impact on the company and update compliance policies accordingly.
- Conduct internal audits and investigations to identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory bodies and manage relationships with external legal counsel.
- Advise senior management on legal risks and ensure that business decisions are made in a legally sound manner.
- Oversee corporate filings records and documentation to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Support in managing litigation disputes and regulatory investigations including coordination with external counsel as needed.
- Provide training to employees on compliancerelated topics ensuring a culture of ethical behavior and legal compliance within the organization.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Law
- Minimum of 3 years postcall experience in corporate law and compliance preferably in a corporate or financial services environment.
- Indepth knowledge of corporate law securities regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments relevant to the finance industry.
- Excellent contract drafting negotiation and legal research skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively advise and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong ethical judgment and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
Skills and Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the Knowledge, Skill and/or ability required to perform this job satisfactorily A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a current practicing license in Nigeria. A minimum of four years of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in land title registration, conveyancing, and corporate law. Proficiency in relevant legal software and databases. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, or a related field.
