Position: Senior Sourcing Specialist Mechanical Commodities (Aerospace / Defence / Industrial)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sourcing Specialist with a strong background in sourcing mechanical commodities specifically Sheet Metal Machining Plastics and other related components for the Aerospace Defence and Industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the development and sourcing of mechanical components as well as a deep understanding of supplier management cost negotiation and vendor development.
Key Responsibilities
- Component Sourcing & Development:
- Lead sourcing initiatives for mechanical commodities such as Sheet Metal Machining Stamping and Plastic components.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including engineering production and quality departments to ensure component specifications quality and cost targets are met.
- Vendor Identification & Development:
- Identify and develop new suppliers ensuring they meet quality cost and leadtime requirements.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and ensure consistent supply chain performance.
- Lead vendor development activities including quality assessments audits and performance reviews.
- Costing & Negotiation:
- Drive cost negotiation processes with suppliers to secure the best possible pricing for components.
- Use expertise in cost analysis including labor material and tooling costs to ensure costeffective sourcing decisions.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives using Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) techniques to optimize product cost while maintaining quality and functionality.
- Tooling & Mold Development:
- Oversee tooling and mold development processes including cost estimation vendor selection and project management.
- Ensure the timely delivery of tools and molds maintaining alignment with production schedules.
- Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all sourced components and suppliers comply with international quality standards (ISO AS) regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in sourcing and supply chain management applying knowledge to optimize sourcing strategies.
- Production Support:
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely availability of components for production schedules.
- Resolve any productionrelated issues related to supply chain delays or component quality.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Lead crossfunctional teams providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Maintain excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders ensuring alignment on development activities timelines and objectives.
- Manage and influence supplier relationships effectively ensuring high levels of supplier performance and service.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
- 10 to 12 years of experience in sourcing mechanical commodities (Sheet Metal Machining Stamping Plastics) within the Aerospace Defence or Industrial sectors.
- Proven track record of vendor identification development and management in complex mechanical component sourcing.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Additional certifications in supply chain management or project management (e.g. Six Sigma APICS etc.) are a plus.
