Job Title: Accounting Clerk Trusts
Job Description:
The Accounting Clerk Trusts plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of trust accounts and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This position involves a variety of accounting tasks that support the overall financial operations of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage trust account records ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare financial statements and reports related to trust accounts.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of trust account balances and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Respond to inquiries from clients and internal staff regarding trust account transactions and balances.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures for trust accounts.
- Support internal and external audits as needed providing relevant documentation and explanations.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations governing trust accounts and accounting practices.
Essential Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in accounting finance or a related field.
- Strong accounting knowledge and familiarity with accounting principles.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Experience:
- Previous experience in an accounting role preferably related to trust accounting is an asset.
- Experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with compliance standards in the accounting field.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Type: Annual
- Currency: Dollars ($CAD Canada)
- Benefits after 3 months of probation period including:
- Group Benefits plan covering Extended Health Dental and other insurances.
- The firm pays 100% of the premiums for Single coverage and 75% for family coverage.
- Employees cover 100% Life Insurance LongTerm Disability (LTD) ShortTerm Disability (STD) and 25% of Dental and Extended family premiums.
- Approximate cost for Dental & Extended family coverage premiums is $21.00 per pay.
- Eligibility to join Retirement Plans (RRSP) after 3 months with matching contributions starting after 1 year (up to 4% of salary increasing to 5% after the second year).
