Contribute with the team to meet the wildlife hazard management plan and objectives encompassing wildlife hazard planning and hazard assessment wildlife assessment and control. Implementation of training programmes on wildlife hazard management for airport safety staff ensuring that company is meeting its certification requirements with regard to compliance with rules and regulations in relation to wildlife hazard management.
- Patrol the airside monitor wildlife activity report and record all wildlife occurrence and incidents and produce wildlife hotspot maps. Comes up with recommendation to the line manager such as (grass cutting and vegetation) in order to minimize wildlife activities.
- Following the Line Manager guidance to set up and reposition bird control equipment on the airfield monitoring the service ability and maintenance of wildlife control equipment ensuring it is in operational condition and/or adjusting the equipment settings whenever is needed.
- To collect bird strike carcasses (samples) from the airfield and identify species. Tag and store in freezer in order to allow follow up wildlife analysis.
- Monitor population of insects/food sources or attractant for birds and wildlife by doing site inspection recording the observation and reporting in order to timely identify the airside hazard and notify Lead Wildlife Hazard Officer.
- Liasing with ATC on Wildlife Hazards and report to them the actual status of Bird Watch condition such as (presence and amount of birds) in order for the ATC to communicate back to pilots. Attend to any request by ATC to keep the runway clear from any wildlife hazard.
- Monitor Population of Birds/wildlife and implement the measures identified in the Wildlife Hazard Manual to decrease the wildlife population and use the approved methods as per SOP to follow the wildlife mitigation strategy.
- Inform the Line Manager of any new or unusual wildlife presence or activity; or any suspicious attractant to the wildlife; Investigate and produce incident reports with accurate data for further analysis following wildlife hazard events and bird strikes.
- Provide wildlife awareness training for airside users to ensure that all concerns staff are fully aware of the wildlife hazards.
- Deployment and control of wildlife tools in the airfield such as traps / cages where required and controlling them if anything is captured. Continuous monitoring of effectiveness of deterrent infrastructure modifications as nettings spikes perimeter fence etc.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the direct manager.
- ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / REQUIREMENTS / CONSIDERATIONS:
- Bachelor of Zoology Ornithology Biology Environmental Science with minimum 2 years of jobrelated experience
- Training certification courses on Aerodrome Safety Management courses Wildlife Hazard and other ICAO ACI Safety certification is an advantage.
