Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Molecular Biologist/Medical Geneticist to join our dynamic research and clinical team. This role is critical for advancing our understanding of genetic disorders and developing innovative solutions for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in molecular biology techniques, genetics, and bioinformatics, with a passion for translating scientific discoveries into clinical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research and Development:

   • Conduct cutting-edge research in molecular biology and genetics to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying genetic diseases.
   • Design and execute experiments utilizing techniques such as PCR, sequencing, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, and other molecular biology methodologies.
   • Analyze and interpret experimental data, utilizing bioinformatics tools to identify genetic variants and their implications in disease.

2. Clinical Applications:

   • Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and validate genetic tests and biomarkers for hereditary and acquired diseases.
   • Participate in patient consultations and genetic counseling sessions to communicate test results and implications to patients and their families.
   • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the field of genetics to enhance clinical services.

3. Data Management and Analysis:

   • Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and analyses in compliance with regulatory requirements.
   • Utilize statistical software and bioinformatics platforms to analyze large datasets and contribute to clinical decision-making.
   • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including grant applications and scientific publications.

4. Collaboration and Teamwork:

   • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including geneticists, clinicians, pathologists, and laboratory technicians, to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
   • Mentor and train junior staff and students in molecular biology techniques and research methodologies.

5. Regulatory Compliance:

   • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory guidelines governing genetic research and testing.
   • Contribute to the preparation of documentation for regulatory submissions and accreditation processes.

Desired candidate profile

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, including next-generation sequencing and genetic analysis.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred, with knowledge of clinical genetics and genetic counseling principles.
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and data analysis software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to non-expert audiences.
