Job Description
Job Title: Linux Engineer
Location: Des Moines IA
Systems Administrator
The Systems Administrator is responsible for effective installation/configuration operation and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:
* Engineering of Linux systems administrationrelated solutions for various project and operational needs.
* Fluent in various flavors of Linux: CentOS RHEL and Oracle Enterprise Linux
* Install and configure Linux servers and application residing on Linux servers
* Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current.
* Contribute to and maintain system standards.
* Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
* Virtual Center administration and troubleshooting
* Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration
* Excellent oral and written communication skills; including documentation
* Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
* Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
* Perform ongoing performance tuning hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU memory and disk partitions as required.
* Provides backup to Sr. Windows Engineer and Storage and Virtualization Engineer as needed
