Job Description |
Position Overview: The Behavior Specialist provides direct and consultative support for students who exhibit challenging behaviors that interfere with their learning or the learning of others. This role involves collaborating with school staff developing intervention plans and implementing strategies that support positive behavior development creating a more conducive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: - Behavioral Assessment and Intervention: Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to understand the causes of behaviors and develop tailored Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Individual and Group Support: Work with students both individually and in groups to reinforce positive behavior practices and social skills.
- Teacher and Staff Collaboration: Consult with teachers counselors and support staff to implement and monitor behavior support plans within the classroom.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Track and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as needed.
- Family Communication: Engage with parents and guardians to discuss progress strategies and provide resources for behavior management at home.
Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology social work or a related field.
- Certification/Experience: Prior experience with behavior management in an educational setting with Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication problemsolving and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
