Job Description: Scientist II Quality Control
Location/Division Specific Information
Carlsbad Biosciences Division (BID)
How will you make an impact
As a Scientist II you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative team and will play a critical role in performing Quality Control assays and experiments on molecular biology reagents for global use in research and commercial products in the life sciences industry.
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
Qualifying product(s) in a lab setting following standard operating procedures
Performing various assays which may include the following: PCR qPCR Bioanalyzer HPLC HPIC small/medium nucleic acid purification Polyacrylamide and Agarose Gel Electrophoresis Cloning and Transformation FRET and Flow Cytometry.
Creating and maintaining specification batch records and other work order documents
Analyzing data and making detailed observations to ensure product quality
Initiating and processing problem notifications for deviations and material nonconformance
Maintaining equipment product inventories and related records
How will you get here
Required: Bachelors degree in Biology Molecular Biology Biochemistry Biotechnology or a related field
2 years of experience in a manufacturing or research laboratory setting.
Demonstrated proficiency in scientific laboratory techniques and equipment
Familiarity with ISO 9001 ISO 13485 and/or GMP manufacturing environment
Strong commitment to continuous improvement
Knowledge Skills Abilities

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hear; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Close vision is required. While performing duties of this position employee will occasionally work with radiation fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. May be required to lift up to 20 pounds. May be asked to lift weight of 45 pounds or more with assistance and/or with equipment on occasion.
MondayFriday 8am5pm OT as needed. 100% On site. No plans at this time for conversion it would depend on budget next year. Teams interviews 12 max.
