Job Description

Roles and responsibilities


▪ Develop the handling philosophy

▪ Design engineering activities related to handling devices (lifting and transfer) . Activities is :specification, datasheet, material requisition, technical bid evaluation, vendor follow up, for Feed, proposal and project execution

▪ Improve quality & efficiency in the engineering activity

Tasks

The handling engineer executes the activities within his area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC & HSE requirements:

▪ Apply the Engineering acquired competence for the handling activities

▪ Prepare deliverables (philosophy, specification, datasheets, procedures, notes, technical reports)

▪ Prepare technical documents relevant for requisitions, bid analysis and PO

▪ Validate all Vendor technical documentation issued during the PO execution, including participation to Functional Acceptance Test in Vendor's premises

▪ Prepare feedback dossiers from projects

▪ Support the HOD and Lead to develop the excellence in handling engineering

▪ Assist the HOD to implement the process of Lesson Learning

▪ Improve technical competence growth of department resources regarding Handling

  • Equipment Management

    • Oversee the selection, operation, and maintenance of material handling equipment (e.g., cranes, forklifts, conveyors) to ensure optimal performance and safety.
    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Process Optimization

    • Analyze and optimize material handling processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
    • Implement best practices for material flow, storage, and retrieval within facilities.
  • Project Coordination

    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and logistics personnel to assess handling requirements and develop effective handling plans for projects.
    • Coordinate the logistics and transportation of materials to ensure timely delivery and compliance with project timelines.
  • Safety Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards related to handling operations and equipment usage.
    • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safe handling practices and equipment operation.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting

    • Monitor and analyze handling performance metrics, such as throughput, cycle times, and equipment utilization, to identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present reports on handling operations, including performance assessments and recommendations for enhancements.

Desired candidate profile

  • Project Experience: Proven experience in managing handling systems for large projects, including equipment selection and operational optimization.

Technical Skills

  • Handling Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of handling equipment (e.g., cranes, forklifts, conveyors) and their applications.
  • Process Optimization: Experience in analyzing and optimizing material handling processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis to assess handling performance and implement improvements.

Project Management Skills

  • Planning and Coordination: Experience in planning and coordinating handling operations, ensuring timely and safe delivery of materials.
  • Budget Management: Ability to develop and manage budgets related to handling operations.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and logistics personnel.
  • Documentation: Proficient in preparing technical documentation, reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Personal Attributes

  • Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail to ensure safety and compliance in handling operations.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
