Roles and responsibilities
Ensure the good design of the material of the piping network both at technical and cost level
Issue technical part of inquiries, bid analysis and order for piping components
Interface with other Piping specialists, project specialists and designers
Refer to project piping and layout lead and to head of piping material section
Job Tasks
Be responsible for the quality, respect of budget and respect of project schedule for piping material tasks
Review the Client technical documentation and requirements
Be responsible for the design of all piping components
Perform wall thickness calculations of pipes
Prepare mechanical valve specification for body of motorized valves
Validate cost estimate
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications in materials engineering may be preferred.
Experience: Proven experience as a Piping Material Engineer in the oil and gas industry or related sectors. Demonstrated track record in materials selection, specifications, and procurement for piping systems.
Piping Materials Knowledge: In-depth understanding of piping materials, including alloys, metals, plastics, and their compatibility with various process fluids and environments.
Communication and Collaboration
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills to work with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers, as well as project managers and contractors.
- Technical Documentation: Proficient in preparing technical documentation, reports, and specifications related to piping systems.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop piping systems for industrial processes and facilities.
- Perform calculations and simulations to ensure piping systems meet operational requirements.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of piping systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Desired candidate profile
- Project Experience: Proven track record of working on large-scale projects, from conceptual design to installation and commissioning.
Technical Skills
- Piping Design: Expertise in piping design principles, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, B31.1).
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in 3D modeling and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, PDS, or Bentley MicroStation).
- Stress Analysis: Familiarity with stress analysis tools (e.g., CAESAR II, ANSYS) to evaluate piping systems under various conditions.
Knowledge of Materials
- Material Selection: Knowledge of piping materials and their applications, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and exotic alloys.
- Corrosion Control: Understanding of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation techniques in piping systems.
Project Management Skills
- Planning and Coordination: Experience in project planning, scheduling, and coordination of piping activities.
- Budget Management: Ability to develop and manage budgets and resource allocation for piping projects.
