Job Description
Highlevel analytical professional that oversees all functions of the Bank s finance and accounting department providing finance information and strategic support.
Responsibilities
Strategic
- Oversee and champion the articulation and development of the overall financial strategy and ensure alignment with the organization s corporate strategy business goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the formation of the Business Strategy and ensure the establishment of sound financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure accounting processes conform with all applicable policies including company and group policies
- Review working capital/cash flow requirement on a regular basis.
Operational
- Oversee and coordinate the daytoday activities of the finance department and ensure alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the organization
- Oversee the approval and processing of revenue expenditure and position control documents department budgets salaries ledger and account maintenance.
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit and compliance issues are resolved.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements financial reports special analyses and management accounting reports in line with best practices.
- Develop and implement finance accounting billing and auditing procedures.
- Ensure synergy and collaboration in interdepartmental activities and communication in order to facilitate effective and smooth running of the Finance Department.
- Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports and develop talent within the department to ensure a pipeline of internally developed candidates for senior roles.
- Coordinate the preparation and compilation of agreed periodic activities and performance reports for the attention of the Executive Management Team.
- Review and authorise key expenditures/transactions for the business in line with approved authority limit.
- Develop financial strategy including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or any relevant field from an accredited university.
- Must possess a professional qualification in Accounting/Finance i.e. ACCA ICAN CFA etc
Experience
- Minimum of twelve (12) years cumulative work experience with at least the last five (5) years in the banking sector at a senior/supervisory level
- Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
