Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are a critical part of a multidisciplinary team and possess unique expertise and a focus on providing quality behavioral health care to acute populations. You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for assisting various patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions and overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to take care of the mental emotional or behavioral disorders of patients engaged in services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Provide evidencebased evaluation diagnosis and treatment of patients including prescribing medications and/or other psychotherapeutic interventions
- Provide treatment either independently or with physician supervision in accordance with Massachusetts regulations
- Develop treatment plans measure progress against the plans and make adjustments as needed
- Provide crisis intervention as needed
- Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Collaborate with a broader team of physicians nurses social workers psychologists and occupational therapists to assess and adjust treatment plans
- Coordinate and communicate with case managers family members and other stakeholders regarding treatment and care
- Participate in the teaching of students and other trainees
- Participate in departmental and organizational quality improvement programs
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Masters Degree from a Nurse Practitioner education program (with specialization in mental health) accredited by a Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursingrecognized national accreditation body
Experience:
- Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner
Licensure:
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current valid DEA certificate and MA Controlled Substances certificate or eligibility
- Buprenorphine waiver required or willingness to acquire a waiver
Certification
- Current advanced practice certification by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing approved nationally recognized certifying body
