This remote role will be based in Dallas TX; Atlanta GA; Denver CO; Houston TX; or Pittsburgh PA. (Only LOCAL candidates from these cities will be considered.)
The Hawkeye Group has been retained by the Momentum Advisory Collective to recruit an experienced Chief Operating Officer to be a handson and participative member of the leadership team and to lead the team to support the following areas: board relations human resources administration new market success and IT. The Chief Operating Officer will play a critical role in partnering with the executive leadership team in strategic decisionmaking as M.A.C. continues to build a remote work culture expand Caf Momentum nationally and build a national conversation on youth justice.
The Chief Operating Officer is an experienced operations leader with strong business acumen exemplary work ethic and an excellent understanding of building and maintaining resilient systems repeatable processes and responsible people. They are a creative thinker who understands the integration of past results with future program planning and activities. They have an entrepreneurial spirit and experience managing the many facets of an organization during periods of significant growth.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive management team reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer. COO responsibilities include:
Operational Excellence
- Build and maintain departmental structures
- Oversee day to day operations ensuring efficiency quality and compliance with organizational policies.
- Streamline processes and workflows to enhance overall efficiency across the remote national organization
- Foster collaboration and communication across departments to enhance teamwork and alignment of organizational goals
- Assist CEO in board relations providing operational updates and insights to board members
- Collaborate with the CFO in preparing the annual budget
Caf Momentum Expansion
- Cultivate strong relationships with leadership in all Caf Momentum locations including exploration markets.
- Define processes and systems to support Caf Momentum locations access to national resources provided by M.A.C.
- Ensure the ongoing alignment of local market Executive Directors with the vision and mission of Caf Momentum.
- Implement and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the success of each Caf Momentum location including regular audits and assessments (Program Restaurant Operations and Development)
- Oversee real estate partners process and selection in all new Caf Momentum markets.
Human Resources Culture Technology and Administration
- Oversee human resources and administration including professional development compensation and benefits and performance evaluations
- Developing managing and evaluating programs policies processes and procedures that ensure maximum impact for the organizations beneficiaries Oversight of the recruiting and retaining talent for Momentum Advisory Collective and new Caf Momentum locations to ensure recruiting processes are consistent and streamlined
- Work closely and transparently with all external partners including legal support (through the Koch network) thirdparty vendors and consultants
- Review and sign vendor agreements contracts and leases
- Reevaluate our external service agreements annually
- Serve as the main point of contact to oversee annual insurance renewals
- Assist insurance broker by providing updated information necessary for commercial liability workers compensation and directors insurance renewals
- Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development
- Assist with the mentorship and development of staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results
- Implement initiatives to foster employee engagement and satisfaction
- Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales
- Working across departments to ensure effectiveness of operations and accurate representation of programs and program needs
Key Attributes Experience Knowledge & Skills //
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education including five years of leadership
- Nonprofit experience in growing and leading projects/programs with a specific focus on workforce development capacitybuilding education and economic mobility
- Experience with and an understanding of board governance
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing nonprofit budgets
- Familiarity with the nonprofit sectors legal and regulatory landscape
- Commitment to the organizations mission and values
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
- Outstanding research and writing skills with an ability to write effectively and persuasively in the areas of project management program execution and strategic planning
- The ability to quickly grasp the technical understanding of criminal justice juvenile justice and economic issues
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to see projects through to completion
- Excellent interpersonal oral communication and public speaking skills
- Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Google and Microsoft
- A selfstarter who has the ability to work both as a part of a remote team and independently
- Sense of humor and ability to work in a fastpaced environment
- Sensitivity in working with confidential materials
- Aptitude in decisionmaking and creative problemsolving
- Experience in fundraising is a plus
Working Environment //
This is a fulltime position on a nationally distributed team. As this role works across time zones working hours may be outside of normal office hours. Employees may be required to work nights holidays or weekends and will be required to travel up to 35% of the time. Onsite work may be conducted in detention facilities restaurant environments outdoor environments in the community (homes businesses etc.) in street environments and with systeminvolved individuals. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers printers scanners document projectors filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
