Job Description

CVD Equipment Corporation (NASDAQ: CVV) designs develops and manufactures a broad range of chemical vapor deposition physical vapor transport gas and chemical delivery control systems and other equipment and process solutions used to develop and manufacture materials and coatings for industrial applications and research. Our products are used in production environments as well as research and development centers both academic and corporate. Major target markets include high power electronics (silicon carbide) EV battery materials / energy storage (carbon nanotubes graphene and silicon nanowires) and aerospace & defense (ceramic matrix composites). Through its application laboratory the Company allows customers the option to bring their process tools to our laboratory and to work collaboratively with our scientists and engineers to optimize process performance.

CVD Equipment Corporation headquartered in Central Islip NY has an opportunity for a Controls Engineering Intern supporting the Controls Engineering department with programming and configuring systems and interfaces in the manufacture of Semiconductor Nanotechnology and Industrial Process Equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Proactively adhere to all safety standards and established protocols.
  • Under the direction of Senior Control Engineer gain an understanding of and perform assigned tasks related to:
    • Control system architecture
    • Electrical schematics and component layout
    • Functional specification based on electrical gas cooling water pneumatic and interconnect schematics
    • PLC programming
    • HMI screen development
    • Software debugging and troubleshooting
  • Assist in the development of control system documents
  • Perform testing of components and systems

Education & Experience:
Actively pursuing a Bachelor (Junior or Senior) and/or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or Computer Science along with a solid understanding of Chemistry.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of algorithm design and programming logic
  • Understanding communication protocols such as: Ethernet/IP Devicenet Modbus
  • Understanding industrial network architecture and requirements
  • Fundamental knowledge of PLC logic and controls
  • Experience with Script Language and C
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet project deadlines
  • Strong problemsolving skills
  • Eager to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • High attention to detail
