About the role
The Tax Manager role involves overseeing preparation of income tax returns for individuals as employees sole traders partnerships trusts companies and selfmanaged super funds (SMSF) and associated financial statements. The role also includes collaborating with senior team members on consulting matters work around structuring and proactive tax planning and multientity structures. Direct client interaction is required frequently. In addition to hands on duties the Tax Manager is responsible for managing Director and Client expectations while also managing the daily workflow and task management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing production team and workflow
- Assisting Practice Manager to monitor and drive KPIs
- Oversee quality control processes and implementation
- Scoping client work including generating fee estimates and budgeting
- Responding to client queries
- Review of financial reports and tax returns for all entities
- Collaborate on consulting matters (including tax planning structures and advisory).
- Provide client support with respect to indirect taxes
- Oversee the bookkeeping and payroll division and services
- Continuous improvement activities with respect to client accounting software and other third party apps
- General leadership and management responsibilities in collaboration with Director
Requirements
About You
Youll be highly motivated energetic and professional in your approach to work and you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years experience with Australian business services and/or public practice accounting
- A minimum of 2 years management experience (highly regarded)
- Broad knowledge and experience in Australian (AU) taxation (essential)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent time management planning people and organisation skills
- Professional written and verbal communication (in English)
- Previous workflow management experience
- Experienced and proficient in Xero and XPM (essential)
