Qualifications & Education
3 years of experience in LMR / RF Systems or IT systems.
2year degree in electronics preferred but not required. Employer will also accept 38 years relevant work experience in lieu of a 2 Year degree.
Knowledge of RF Systems such as transmitters receivers microwave systems & antenna networks or knowledge on IT systems Microsoft Severs Active Directory VMware Red Hat Linux Cisco & TCP/IP
Collect & deliver data including antenna radiated power readings cable sweep results channel alignments network connectivity network uptime ip traffic analysis wireshark etc.
Proficient w/ using various test equipment: Communications Monitor T1 Test Sets Antenna Analyzers IP Network Analyzers Laptop SSH FTP Telnet Cisco & Linux command line etc.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. on a regular basis
Must have a valid US Driver s license. This role requires the ability to pass a US driving test & to drive daily to customer sites to work on technical issues. These sites are in various locations including remote ones.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
Provide technical support of specialized communications systems & product applications. Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation w/ focus on trend analysis & thorough documentation of results. Advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics provisioning of communications system infrastructure & performance optimization of RF Microwave IT Systems including but not limited to:
Legacy Analog Radio Systems
Advanced Digital P25 Systems
IT systems with VMware and Cisco Networking
The Systems Tech (ST) will be on a rotating pager schedule that will mandate they carry a pager 24/7 on the week that it is their assigned turn. The ST will have to respond to calls at any hour of the day. Therefore the ability to drive at night & in remote areas is a requirement for this role. A Company vehicle will be issued to ST to carry out their duties. This position requires carrying a pager for on call after hour s service every 23 weeks. Employees are paid pager pay & overtime for this.
Requirements
Disassemble automotive trim and reinstall without damage. Disassemble automotive body panels, bumper covers etc. and reinstall without damage. Perform factory like installations of perimeter lighting, lightbars, siren controllers and speakers. Ability to read schematics, installation diagrams and instructions Perform quality installations of push bumpers, vehicle partitions, vehicle storage boxes, computer docking stations, and other police vehicle related equipment. Have a clear understanding of DC voltage and installation of 12-volt DC powered equipment such as lighting, siren controllers, speakers, relays, controllers, computer equipment and battery chargers. Have a clear understanding of DC electrical connections, and connectors, and proper routing and/or fabricating wire harnesses in a clean and professional manner. Have working knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) test equipment including, watt meters, connector types and usage.
Education
This position requires the skills and knowledge normally obtained through the successful completion of a high school degree, GED or equivalent
