Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Design Specialist to support key program initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring innovative practical expertise in mechanical and electromechanical design concepts developing components assemblies tools and products of various complexities. This role will work collaboratively with engineering vendors manufacturing quality teams and customers to ensure design specifications meet quality standards and are free of layout defects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver advanced mechanical and electromechanical designs for components assemblies tools and products.
- Ensure designs meet engineering military standards and customer specifications while maintaining accuracy in calculations and dimensions.
- Provide technical expertise particularly in Computer Aided Design (CAD) methodologies and work with Creo 7 (required) and ModelBased Definition (MBD) (preferred).
- Prepare complex design layouts schematics test plans and specifications ensuring integration and system requirements are met.
- Review and validate CAD models for seamless transition to modeling and simulation software.
- Create drawing packages that conform to military or ASME standards.
- Perform tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers to ensure designs meet contractual and functional requirements.
- Evaluate design specifications for producibility tolerances materials and integration of equipment.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Creo 7 and ProE CAD systems (minimum 9 years of experience).
- Expertise in 3D modeling drafting techniques and file manipulation.
- Knowledge of military drawings specifications and MILSPEC/STD standards.
- Proficiency in tolerance analysis and GD&T.
- Knowledge of production methods and human factors considerations.
- Familiarity with MBD (ModelBased Definition) is a plus.
Experience & Education Requirements:
- Minimum 9 years of design and drafting experience including 5 years with advanced design concepts.
- Associate Degree with a focus on engineering drafting/design or equivalent experience and training in design.
