Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Surgical Services to lead our perioperative team focused on delivering exceptional patient care while managing operations effectively. This leadership position requires 24/7 oversight of surgical services departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve current and potential issues impacting the surgical service through effective strategies and communication.
- Actively participate in departmental, service, and hospital-wide committees, ensuring ongoing communication and representation.
- Enhance the customer experience within Surgical Services.
- Provide mentorship to subordinates by offering constructive feedback, overseeing individual development plans, and documenting performance.
- Ensure compliance with all Human Resource policies.
- Communicate relevant departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff.
- Implement evidence-based employee engagement practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships to fulfill organizational and departmental objectives.
- Engage in employee and patient rounding to identify and nurture future leaders.
- Uphold surgical care standards and establish processes for consistent compliance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a continuous surgical services program that meets quality patient care standards aligned with the hospital’s mission.
- Oversee adherence to regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies regarding patient and staff safety.
- Manage a Performance Improvement (PI) program to monitor and assess crucial aspects of patient care.
- Ensure operational excellence by delivering quality services in accordance with industry standards and policies.
- Follow Exposure Control Plans for Infection Prevention.
- Enforce verification policies for surgical sites and patient safety.
- Monitor quality event reporting and respond appropriately.
- Support initiatives for new program strategies or enhancements to expand patient services.
- Prioritize and advocate for capital equipment requests.
- Manage department finances effectively, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
- Drive the growth agenda for Surgical Services, positioning the department as the provider of choice in the community.
- Exhibit a confident demeanor that brings reassurance and respect within the organization.
- Foster and develop strategic networks both internally and externally.
- Promote a culture of positive patient interactions to ensure unparalleled service.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Mission and Value Statement of the organization.

Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Licensure: Must possess a current RN license in the State of California.
- Experience: Candidates with a background as a current OR Director or extensive experience in nurse management in high-volume settings are preferred.
- Skills: Must be RN with the ability to circulate in the operating room as needed.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: USD $190,000 to $225,000.
