Job Description
Position : Solaris/Linux admin
Location : Hicksville NY (Onsite)
Term : C2C/W2 role
Job Description :
- Primary skills/experienceAdvanced knowledge of UNIX operating systems (RedHat Linux CentOS 7 Solaris) 7 years experienceAdvanced knowledge of Data Center operations including racking and Stacking of server hardware and network/SAN cablingAdvanced knowledge of Solaris and SUN hardwareProficiency with hardware configuration software installation and configurationMust be able to handle packages and systems that weight 5075 lbs without assistance.Secondary skills/experienceMaintaining documentation for installs and decommissions including request for power and network access.Working Storage experience with iSCSI SAN FC SAN NAS multipathing technologies on Netapp EMC Clariion PURE and isilon storages.BAU Activities
- Build baremetal servers. Unpack rack cable and install OS to Altice USA standards in four Master Headends
- Prepare servers for shipping and deliver to loading dock for pickup
- Build VMs as requests are submitted with approvals from Manager and direction from Lead Altice Systems Engineer
- Patch Systems on a regular basis
- Perform VM/Server migrations including associated storage to new hardware platforms
- Work with storage team to provision storage for VMs and servers
- Weekly report of work to be submitted on Fridays and attend Staff Meetings as required.
