Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement the organization’s IT strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Assess current IT infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements and upgrades.

2. IT Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily IT operations, including network management, server maintenance, and help desk support.
  • Ensure IT systems are reliable, secure, and meet the organization’s needs.

3. Team Leadership:

  • Manage and lead the IT team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging professional development.

4. Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend IT investments and expenditures.

5. Project Management:

  • Oversee IT projects from conception to implementation, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.

6. Network and Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage the organization’s network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.

7. Security Management:

  • Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect the organization’s data and systems.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

8. Vendor Management:

  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

9. User Support and Training:

  • Provide technical support to employees, resolving IT-related issues and queries.
  • Organize training sessions to enhance employees’ technical skills and knowledge.

10. Data Management:

  • Oversee data storage, backup, and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Implement data management policies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

11. Performance Monitoring:

  • Monitor and analyze IT system performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate reports on IT operations, project progress, and system performance metrics.

Desired candidate profile

1. Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree: A master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA with a focus on IT or a Master’s in IT Management) is preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or CompTIA Security+ are advantageous.

2. Professional Experience:

  • IT Experience: 5-10 years of experience in IT roles, with a strong background in network administration, system management, and technical support.
  • Managerial Experience: At least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role, demonstrating leadership and team management capabilities.

3. Technical Skills:

  • Network and Systems Management: Proficient in managing network infrastructure, servers, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Security Practices: Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, data protection, and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Software Development: Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).

4. Core Skills:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.

5. Project Management:

  • Experience in managing IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals and timely delivery.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.

6. Budgeting and Financial Acumen:

  • Experience in developing and managing IT budgets, with a focus on cost optimization and resource allocation.
  • Ability to analyze financial reports and make data-driven decisions.

7. Vendor Management:

  • Proven experience in managing relationships with IT vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.

8. Adaptability and Continuous Learning:

  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest technology trends, tools, and best practices in the IT field.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and technological advancements.

9. Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to facilitate training sessions and knowledge sharing among team members.
