Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Financial Management:

  • Oversee the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide insights to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

2. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

3. Business Support:

  • Collaborate with various departments to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in developing business cases for new projects and initiatives, including cost-benefit analyses.

4. Budgeting and Cost Control:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Implement and monitor cost control measures to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.

5. Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor finance and business support team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.

6. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s assets.

7. Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within finance and business support functions.
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.

8. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a key liaison between finance and other business units, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including auditors and financial institutions, as necessary.

9. Project Management:

  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects that require financial expertise and business acumen.
  • Ensure timely completion of project deliverables and adherence to budgetary constraints.

10. Advisory Role:

  • Act as a financial advisor to senior management, providing insights on financial strategies and business operations.
  • Support strategic planning efforts by evaluating the financial implications of various business decisions.

Desired candidate profile

1. Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree: An MBA or a master's degree in Finance or Accounting is highly desirable.

2. Professional Certification:

  • Relevant professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are preferred.

3. Experience:

  • Financial Experience: 5-10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or business support roles, with a strong understanding of financial management principles.
  • Management Experience: At least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership position, overseeing a finance or business support team.

4. Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the specific industry in which the organization operates (e.g., manufacturing, services, non-profit) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to the industry.

5. Skills:

  • Financial Management: Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Reporting Skills: Strong ability to prepare and present financial reports and dashboards.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software (e.g., ERP systems, accounting software) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

6. Leadership and Team Management:

  • Team Leadership: Experience in leading and developing a team, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration between finance and other business units.

7. Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
