Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.

2. General Ledger Management:

  • Prepare and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are recorded accurately.
  • Reconcile accounts to ensure that records are consistent and discrepancies are addressed.

3. Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
  • Generate financial reports for management, providing insights into financial performance and trends.

4. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against the budget and provide variance analysis.

5. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments to vendors.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, tracking outstanding invoices and ensuring timely collection of payments.

6. Payroll Processing:

  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and labor laws.
  • Maintain payroll records and resolve any discrepancies in employee compensation.

7. Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with tax planning and advise on tax-related issues to minimize tax liabilities.

8. Audit and Compliance:

  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.

9. Financial Analysis:

  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Conduct cost analysis and profitability assessments to guide business decisions.

10. Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support operational decisions.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

Desired candidate profile

1. Education:

  • Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is essential.
  • Advanced Degree: A Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Accountant (CA) are highly desirable.

2. Professional Experience:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the industry relevant to the organization (e.g., retail, manufacturing, finance) is advantageous.

3. Core Competencies:

  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and taxation.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial data and identify trends.

4. Technical Skills:

  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Reporting Tools: Familiarity with financial reporting and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

5. Attention to Detail:

  • Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

6. Communication Skills:

  • Verbal and Written Skills: Excellent communication skills to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and cross-functionally with other departments.

7. Ethics and Integrity:
