Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Greets guests and presents them with the menu.
  • Informs guests about the special items for the day and menu changes if any.
  • Suggest food and beverages to the guest and try to upsell.
  • Take food and beverage orders from the guest on the order taking pads or on the handheld Point of sale (POS) system.
  • Obtaining revenues, issuing receipts, accepting payments, returning the change.
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by Supervisor.
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed.
  • Punch the order on the POS machine and make sure to enter the special requirements made by the guest while ordering the food. Eg: No Garlic, less spicy etc., Without egg etc.
  • Communicate to the guest and provide assistance with their queries.
  • Co - ordinate with the bus person, kitchen staff, bar staff to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
  • Server food and beverage to the guest as per the course of order.
  • Observes guests and ensure their satisfaction with the food and service.
  • Promptly respond to guest with any additional request.
  • Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Prepare mixed drinks for service to your customer's table.
  • 1. Customer Service:

  • Greet and seat guests promptly and courteously.
  • Provide menus and explain daily specials or promotions.
  • Answer questions about the menu and make recommendations.
  • 2. Order Taking:

  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all orders are communicated clearly to the kitchen and bar staff.
  • 3. Service Delivery:

  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely manner, ensuring proper presentation and temperature.
  • Check in with guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns.
  • 4. Table Management:

  • Prepare tables for service, including setting cutlery, glassware, and condiments.
  • Clean and reset tables quickly after guests depart.
  • 5. Payment Processing:

  • Present the bill to guests and process payments accurately.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions responsibly.
  • 6. Collaboration:

  • Work closely with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding guest needs and special requests.

Desired candidate profile

4* - 5* star Hotel Experience or Restaurant operation experience
Knowledge in Basic HACCP/Food Safety
Knowledge in MICROS
Previous experience in a similar role in a restaurant, café, or hospitality setting is preferred.
Familiarity with various dining styles and service techniques.
2. Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; further education in hospitality or food service is a plus.
Certifications in food safety or responsible alcohol service are advantageous.
3. Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on creating a positive dining experience.
Ability to take orders accurately and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
4. Knowledge:

Basic knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including menu items, preparation methods, and wine pairings.
Understanding of health and safety regulations in food service.
5. Personal Attributes:

Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a willingness to go the extra mile for guests.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the service area.
6. Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy trays, and carry multiple items at once.
Stamina and physical fitness to manage a busy dining environment.
7. Availability:

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
8. Teamwork:

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support colleagues when necessary.
