Job Description
Job Summary: The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean safe and welcoming environment for children staff and visitors. This role includes routine cleaning maintenance tasks and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cleaning and Sanitization:
o Perform daily cleaning of classrooms restrooms common areas and outdoor spaces.
o Use appropriate cleaning agents and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment.
o Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request orders as needed.
2. Maintenance Tasks:
o Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs.
o Perform minor repairs and maintenance including plumbing electrical and HVAC tasks.
o Report major maintenance issues to the Facility Manager.
3. Safety Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
o Assist in emergency preparedness efforts including fire drills and safety inspections.
4. Facility Upkeep:
o Maintain outdoor areas including playgrounds and gardens ensuring they are safe and clean.
o Set up and take down furniture and equipment for events and activities.
5. Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with teachers and staff to understand specific cleaning and maintenance needs.
o Support the childcare team by assisting with special projects or tasks as required
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work ideally in a childcare or educational setting.
Knowledge of cleaning and safety protocols.
Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problemsolving.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
Physical demands include lifting bending and standing for extended periods.
Work may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures
