Summary:
CCI Group is seeking skilled ASL interpreters to join our disaster response team providing critical communication support to Deaf and HardofHearing individuals impacted by Hurricane Milton. You will be deployed to various settings such as shelters hospitals and community centers to facilitate access to vital information resources and support services.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver ASL interpretation in diverse settings to assist communication between Deaf and HardofHearing individuals and relief workers medical personnel and other service providers.
- Adapt communication techniques to meet the needs of individuals who may be experiencing trauma or stress.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards for interpreters.
- Collaborate with relief teams to ensure culturally sensitive and effective service delivery.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Experience in interpreting in various settings including crisis or emergency situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Sensitivity to the needs of individuals affected by disasters.
Commitment:
- Immediate deployment to impacted areas across Florida.
- Availability to work extended hours during the disaster relief period as assigned.
Fluency in listed language and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages. Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably in a social service, legal, or healthcare setting. Understanding the unique needs and challenges faced by at-risk youth and cultural competency in working with diverse populations. Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, and empathy in emotionally charged situations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and protocols governing the care and protection of at-risk youth is a plus but not a requirement.
