The Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible for engineering support and reliability improvements for rotating equipment in a plant environment. Job Duties:
Develop and implement failure modebased reliability strategies for critical rotating equipment
Analyze equipment trends historical data and field data to develop and adjust reliability programs to maximize asset reliability and production availability at the optimum cost of ownership
Recommend and champion solutions as appropriate to maximize system availability
Apply engineering theory practices and principles to determine root cause failure analysis (RCFA) of equipment failures and performance evaluations of rotating equipment and supporting systems
Develop and Implement Preventive maintenance routines and condition monitoring program for Rotating Machinery
Work closely with production maintenance and service teams to understand failure modes and effects and develop mitigation plans; prioritize and develop action plans for our reliabilitycentered maintenance system
Provide technical support in project development turnaround scope identification QA/QC installation commissioning startup and work activities on all rotating equipment upgrades repairs and new installations
Apply reliability centered principles to ensure optimum engineered solutions on rotating equipment deficiencies and new equipment selection
Review Management of Change (MOC) requirements and ensure adherence to all Process Safety Management (PSM) elements
Manage the Rotating Equipment Mechanical Integrity (MI) program through MI classification preventative maintenance procedures and testing frequency requirements
Provide field technical support to resolve rotating equipment problems
Periodically create review and update rotating equipment procedures
Responsible for maintaining and updating equipment records and necessary spare parts.
Analyze equipment trends historical data and field data to develop life cycle cost optimization on various classes of rotating equipment
Responsible for maintaining and updating equipment records and identifying critical necessary spare parts and capital spares
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
4 years of machinery engineering or rotating equipment engineering in petrochemicals refining or utility operations
Knowledge of reciprocating centrifugal and screw compressors API/ANSI pumps steam turbines gas turbines electric motors fans blowers etc.
Familiarity with machinery auxiliary systems such as lube oil seal oil hydraulics monitoring control and protective systems
Understanding of machinery vibration analysis including data collection and interpretation. CAT II certification preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent problemsolving skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priority items.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook etc.)
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Works outside in extensive heat and cold weather
Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
Occasionally work in close proximity to chemical processes with toxic or caustic chemicals airborne particles fumes extreme heat extreme cold vibration and electrical hazards
Ability to wear and operate in all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes fireant uniforms hard hats ear plugs safety glasses goggles fall protection harnesses chemical exposure suits and respirators
