Job Description
Job Title: Emergency Communications Senior Engineer
Category: Specialist 3
Location: 2 MetroTech Center Brooklyn NY 11201 (OnSite)
Duration: Nov 4 2024 Nov 2 2025 (1820 hours)
Rate: $86.00 $98.45/hour
Hours: MonFri 35 hours/week (mandatory meal break after 6 hours). Overtime requires preapproval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy configure and maintain emergency communication infrastructure including E911 and NG911 systems.
- Provide technical support for Textto911 (TT911) and Public Safety Unified Communications.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and service failures; implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers on technology deployments and maintenance.
- Manage emergency communication technology assets and perform performance analysis.
- Support test environments validating emergency communication systems.
Mandatory Requirements:
- 12 years in data center or field support roles.
- 8 years in network support communications routing and telecommunication cabling.
- Proficient in MS Excel Visio and Word.
- Knowledge of networking hardware call routing and landmobileradio systems.
- Ability to perform physical work travel within NYC and be available for oncall work.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelors in computer science or related field.
- Experience with NG911 ANI/ALI services GIS and 911 call handling systems.
- Familiarity with emergency communication integration and risk mitigation.
