Job Description

Job Description: Family Law Paralegal/LAA (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist family law attorneys in preparing legal documents such as petitions motions and agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings to support ongoing cases.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate records of all client interactions and case developments.
  • Communicate with clients to gather information provide updates and address any inquiries related to their legal matters.
  • Prepare and file documents with the court in a timely manner ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits and ensure proper documentation is available for court proceedings.
  • Support attorneys in case strategy development and participate in client meetings and consultations.
  • Stay updated on changes in family law and regulations that may affect ongoing cases.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary education in paralegal studies or a related field.
  • Certification as a paralegal or legal assistant (LAA) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of family law principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to client confidentiality.

Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant in a family law setting.
  • Experience with case management software and legal documentation systems.
  • Prior experience interfacing with clients and managing client expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines under pressure.
