The Senior Quality Control (QC) Analyst works on multiple programs/systems to ensure that products and/or services adheres to a predefined set of quality standards and meets the requirements of customers. The Senior QC Analyst supports an environment where employees and management are always striving for perfection which may involve conducting training creating benchmarks and metrics for measuring product or service quality and testing to check for any significant variations in quality. The Senior QC Analyst is involved in all phases of the QC process and the implementation of quality control objectives with significant emphasis on implementing continuous improvement. This includes the enforcement of current Amtrak QC processes including the monitoring and evaluation of Requirement and Test deliverables. The Sr. Quality Control Analyst interacts with all members of the project team including architects business analysts system analysts project managers the development team and project controls team to assure successful development testing and implementation of project requirements helping to ensure that projects meet Amtraks quality deployment goals.
- Creates standard operating procedures and metrics based on best practices; identifies and proposes areas of improvement and develops and leads execution of improvement plan
- Reviews formal test plans and documented test results
- Reviews project deliverables and produces the compliance checklist
- Monitors evaluates and makes recommendations on QC tasks
- Conducts investigations on technical problems on installed networks systems and products; produces QC Root Cause Analysis
- Verifies that documented system requirements have been met
- Translates business and technical requirements into test cases test scenarios and scripts.
- Executes test scripts/cases and monitors testing results; captures and documents defects metrics and testing results; assigns severity levels to each test issue discovered during the test cycle; makes recommendations regarding software defects
- Prepares maintains and reviews documentation on all Testing phases. Contributes and adheres to requirements traceability matrix
- Documents and may evaluate system functions and response times based on SLAs. May suggest changes for efficiencies within or between systems as it impacts projects and enhancements prior to implementation.
Required Skills & Work Experience
- Ability to comprehend business requirements technical specifications and change management documentation in order to develop test plans.
- Ability to document process workflows and develop Standard Operating Procedures
- Experience developing KPIs and tracking status
- Experience delivering Master Test Plans test estimates test cases test scenarios defect reports final test summary reports and test status reports
- Ability to prioritize testing based on risk; exposure in Testing Process Development
- Experience with Structured Test Planning testing tracking software
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of testing tools.
- Experience operating in an Agile/Scrum team.
- Proficient with issue tracking tools.
- Experience leading teams in a matrixed organization
- Experience coordinating lab testing and related activities
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Business or related field plus 5 years relevant experience
- 2 years of working experience leading teams in a matrixed organization
- Proficient with Microsoft tools (MS Excel Word PowerPoint Visio PowerBI etc.).
Special Skillset (required)
- Experience in the implementation of continuous improvement (CI) lean and/or six sigma methodologies
- A proven toolkit of CI methodologies coupled with the ability to implement and drive process improvements down through all levels of the organization to improve efficiency and productivity while eliminating waste
- Ability to develop a standard set of metrics to track operational performance drive operational discipline and promote a culture of continuous improvement and waste elimination.
- Formal training/certification in one or more tool sets
- Experience in the Capability Model Maturity Integration (CMMI) appraisal process.
