Join tozero as our Chemical Scientist Strategic R&D where youll have the exciting opportunity to lead strategic research projects aimed at enhancing our lithiumion battery recycling efforts! This role is crucial as our R&D initiatives are designed to be scaled up to commercial levels directly contributing to the growth and success of the company. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in chemical engineering or a related field who is passionate about advancing recycling technologies.
Tasks
What Youll Do
- Conduct HandsOn Experiments: Take charge of designing and executing handson experiments in our lab to optimize and innovate recycling processes specifically targeting lithiumion batteries and related materials.
- Develop Innovative Solutions: Analyze experimental results to develop new methods for increasing recovery rates and improving overall recycling efficiency while actively engaging in the practical application of your findings.
- SelfManagement: Demonstrate strong selfmanagement skills by effectively prioritizing tasks managing time and driving projects independently while meeting deadlines.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with crossfunctional teams including Operations and Technical Procurement to translate research findings into practical applications and scalable processes.
- Stay Ahead of Trends: Monitor and evaluate industry trends emerging technologies and regulatory developments to inform research strategies and maintain our competitive edge.
- Document and Present Findings: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on research outcomes and share insights with internal stakeholders and partners.
Requirements
What You Bring to the Table
- Strong Educational Background: A Ph.D. or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering Materials Science or a related discipline with a focus on recycling or sustainable materials preferred.
- Proven Research Experience: Experience in conducting research projects preferably in the recycling/materials processing/water treatment field with a track record of innovative problemsolving.
- HandsOn Skills: Strong handson laboratory skills with the ability to conduct experiments directly and analyze data effectively.
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively in a teamoriented environment demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for Sustainability: A deep commitment to advancing sustainable practices and making a meaningful impact in the recycling industry.

- Prior to the next session you will receive a case study to work on. This part is important to us to assess your cultural and business fit for the role.
