Job Purpose:
The Associate Director Data Engineering will be responsible for designing building and maintaining data pipelines and tools that democratize data across the organization. This role enables datadriven decisionmaking and involves close collaboration with Data Scientists Product teams and business stakeholders to transform business requirements into efficient and reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain data Lakehouse solutions using Google BigQuery and Vertex AI ensuring performance costeffectiveness and advanced analytics.
- Lead the design and development of robust data pipelines (streaming batch API endpoints) for efficient data collection transformation and analysis.
- Ensure data solutions comply with industry regulations supporting detailed reporting and selfservice analytics.
- Implement best practices for data quality consistency and integrity throughout the data infrastructure.
- Establish monitoring logging and alerting frameworks to guarantee data pipeline reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and drive continuous improvement in development processes.
- Facilitate secure data sharing through data marketplaces maintaining data catalogs and lineage.
- Document data solutions to ensure operational knowledge is accessible across the organization.
- Mentor and guide a team of data engineers fostering innovation and collaboration.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager related to the nature of the work.
- Enforce compliance with necessary controls and information security policies procedures and practices within departmental activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
- Bachelors degree from a recognized university.
- Years & Nature of Experience:
- 10 years of experience in designing and implementing data pipelines using Google Cloud or other public cloud platforms.
- Deep expertise in Google Cloud technologies such as BigQuery Data Fusion DataForm DataFlow Cloud Composer DataPlex Dataproc and Analytics Hub.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles including security compliance and privacy by design.
