Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Engineer the Assistant Director of Engineering is an integral part of the team ensuring that Engineering Health & Safety Colleague and Guest Experience are in turn supporting every area of hotel operations. Showcase your strengths as an Assistant Director of Engineering where you will oversee the daytoday engineering activities of both the building and your team.

What you will be doing:

  • Work closely with the Engineering leadership team to exceed guest and staff expectations of the property.
  • Lead and develop the Engineering team; including daytoday operations planning task allocation recruitment ongoing coaching performance management payroll etc.
  • Scheduling and coordination of contract work on specific projects.
  • Maintain inventory order parts supplies tools and materials in accordance with approved budgets.
  • Conduct inspection of rooms public areas and Heart of House for condition and quality of work.
  • Work alongside the Chief Engineer in planning and implementing capital projects.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance program for guest rooms public areas and safety systems with a focus to improve efficiency profitability and service levels.
  • Participate in the hotel Sustainability Committee to contribute to energy savings.
  • Monitor and update the fire safety plan and building evacuation plan.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all departments throughout the hotel project consultants and thirdparty contractors.
  • Comply with local legislation and corporate policies & procedures including all associated health & safety protocols.

Qualifications :

Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous experience in a comparable leadership role including familiarity with facilities components and building systems (HVAC electrical building exteriors building automation systems etc.)
  • Fifth Class Power Engineer Certificate is preferred
  • Pool operators certificate and experience in pool maintenance and pool chemistry is preferred
  • Highly organized and process oriented while displaying and ensuring accountability of self and team members
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt as necessary while taking initiative and being a selfstarter
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts including mornings evenings overnights weekends
