R&D Project Manager Work location: Chennai India
We are looking for an R&D project manager to our project management office in the R&D organization specifically working with R&D projects targeting our control & protection platform MACH. In this role you will lead R&D projects in the SAFe framework to develop our system software. You will work close to system architects to define the changes in architecture and design patterns that is needed to solve the needs of our customers. You will also work together with product owners and development teams that are realizing the design in the code. Since the system software spans over many hardware targets it will also be necessary to collaborate with other project managers. The development teams are working in a distributed agile setup so a good understanding of agile and specifically using the SAFe framework is beneficial. In MACH R&D Team activities and deliverables are planned implemented and delivered within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). In SAFe Epic Owner acts similar to a project manager for the projects / Epics. This position is for Epic Owner. In the SAFe framework the Epic Owner is a visionary leader who is being entrusted with steering the course of significant initiatives and translating business strategies into actionable plans and tasks. Epic Owners are responsible for coordinating epics through the portfolio Kanban system.
Epic Owners (EO) work collaboratively with stakeholders to define the Epic the Lean business case and the definition of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and are responsible for shepherding the epic through the portfolio Kanban system. If Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) approves the epic the EO coordinates the introduction of the epic into implementation with the Agile Release Trains. More details on Epic Owner can be found in Epic Owner Scaled Agile Framework As an Epic Owner You will take on the role as a leader of one or more Epics in the SAFe framework. Develop detailed work plans schedules budget and project estimates. Collaborate with system architects product owners stakeholders and development teams on requirements and design. Communicate with our stakeholders to the Epics about the status and the plan going forward. Lead the work with preparing features for each program increment. Conducting risk analysis and monitoring the progress of the plans against agreed milestones and budget. Collaborate with external suppliers of software if necessary. Qualification&Experience
Masters / Graduate degree in engineering. Total of around 7 to 10 years experience with o 2 to 5 years of handson experience in Software Project management / Software (product) development responsible o Handson experience in Software Development (E.g.: embedded systems (C / C or similar) with excellent process knowledge like Agile / Scrum / Kanban / VModel etc. Working experience and understanding of design patterns modularization and system design. Understanding of how to structure and describe software by means of modelling languages for example UML or SysML. It is beneficial if you have experience from realtime operating systems and SoC solutions and it is an extra plus if you also have experience or knowledge from FPGA development (VHDL or Verilog) or hardware development especially including electronics design.

- Mandatory Experience 4 to 6 years of Embedded SW Dev (initial part of career)
- Good awareness on the Embedded concepts
- Software Dev Life Cycle & Agile processes (SAFe is an added advantage).

- Needed Project management experience handling requirements technical coordination reporting etc
- Project management certification is not mandatory
