The Lead Negotiator Pharmaceutical Partnerships plays a key role in driving the companys Pharmaceutical Partnerships strategy. This position focuses on managing relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and negotiating Product Listing Agreements (PLAs). Collaborating with the inhouse clinical team and external partners the Lead Negotiator ensures the alignment of formulary changes with client objectives. The role also involves overseeing the daytoday execution of PLAs to support seamless operations and agreement fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with internal teams and external pharmaceutical manufacturer partners particularly within Market Access.
- Stay informed on market trends public policy and the competitive landscape affecting pharmaceutical reimbursement.
- Lead and manage the entire PLA negotiation process including strategy negotiations and contracting for specific drug therapies to support the financial sustainability of drug plans.
- Align with carrier strategies to deliver impactful PLAs across provincial regulatory frameworks.
- Coordinate legal and business reviews of negotiated agreements and assist with contract interpretation audits and invoicing.
- Draft and review legally binding agreements as needed.
- Deliver annual PLA forecasts within budget parameters.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical market access pharmacy health insurance or benefits management.
- A university degree in Pharmacy Business Science or a related field is preferred; a clinical background is a strong asset.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a significant advantage.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in market access the benefits/insurance industry value proposition development and drug reimbursement processes in both public and private sectors.
- Strong understanding of public policy and provincial regulations with knowledge of Canadian pharmaceutical landscapes and Pharmacy Benefit Management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver professional presentations.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of analytical and business acumen.
- Established relationships with pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers are a plus.
