Job Description
Our client is a digital platform for crossborder commodity transactions enhancing the value of African exports by facilitating processes like aggregation quality assurance and logistics while ensuring ethical procurement. It connects domestic supply with global demand helping businesses overcome challenges and expand their reach worldwide.
As the Logistics Lead Solid Minerals you will oversee the endtoend management of logistics including freight export processes and the movement of solid minerals from mining sites to international markets. This role ensures seamless coordination of transportation customs clearance regulatory compliance and delivery optimizing costs and ensuring timely exports. You will collaborate with suppliers freight forwarders transporters and regulatory bodies to ensure efficient export operations.
Job Responsibilities
Freight Management:
Manage the transportation of solid minerals from mining sites to ports and final export destinations.
Coordinate with transport providers (trucking rail and maritime) to ensure efficient costeffective delivery.
Negotiate contracts with freight companies for optimal pricing and service levels.
Track shipments to ensure timely delivery and address delays damages or disruptions.
Export Operations:
Oversee export processes ensuring compliance with all documentation and regulatory requirements.
Prepare export documents including invoices bills of lading and certificates of origin.
Work with customs brokers to ensure smooth customs clearance and regulatory compliance.
Ensure adherence to trade agreements environmental regulations and mineral export laws.
Logistics Planning and Coordination:
Develop logistics strategies to ensure smooth and timely mineral movement.
Manage the consolidation of shipments to optimize container or bulk shipping efficiency.
Plan shipments based on customer requirements ensuring ontime international deliveries.
Supplier and Vendor Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics providers including freight forwarders and customs agents.
Monitor vendor performance ensuring they meet cost quality and delivery standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Manage and control freight costs ensuring costeffective operations.
Identify and implement costsaving initiatives optimizing transportation routes and vendor contracts.
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations including customs environmental and safety standards.
Coordinate with warehouse teams to streamline storage loading and shipment processes.
Track logistics performance metrics such as delivery timelines and freight costs.
Implement safety protocols for transporting minerals particularly hazardous materials.
**Special Skills and Qualifications:**
Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics International Trade or a related field.
710 years of experience in managing international freight export operations and customs clearance.
Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations incoterms and trade practices.
Experience with logistics software and freight management systems.
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
Expertise in export documentation and compliance with SubSaharan Africa trade regulations.
Strong project management skills to oversee multiple shipments and logistics processes.
Proficient in logistics and export management tools.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
Strong problemsolving abilities to manage shipment disruptions and regulatory changes.
Attention to detail and the ability to manage largescale operations in a fastpaced environment.
